My name is Diane and I am the creator of sweetstitchingcrafts.

About 10 years ago, I discovered the wonderful world of crafting. I always admired the craftsmanship of handmade items, which inspired me to start creating my own!

When I first picked up a crochet hook, I was frustrated that it didn’t come naturally. An important lesson I learned during the beginning years of my making journey was to enjoy the process and stop worrying about how ‘perfect’ the finished project needed to look. Besides, imperfections are what make handmade items so charming! This may be why I love working with natural fibers such as cotton, wool and linen. Rarely do these natural materials look and feel perfectly smooth and sleek like man-made materials. What gives it character are the little nobs, bumps, and lumps that you learn to embrace and celebrate during the making process.

People often ask me why I love crafting. Most of the time, it’s not about the finished product for me; it’s about the journey. I love planning, buying materials (maybe a little too much), finding or creating the pattern, and piecing it all together to see if my finished item turns out like I imagined it. There’s an inexplicable joy that comes when you make something with your hands from start to finish. And seeing the smile on someone’s face when they receive a handmade gift I have crafted is priceless.  As a fellow maker, I know you can relate!
